Today is the second day of week 4 of the 6-week program, Hundred Pushups. I finished week 3 a few days ago making that the half-way point in the program. I have to say, I love the way the program is carried out. Levels with breaks in between them.Week by week you get closer to your goal.
The first half of the program wasn’t very challenging, but now getting into the sets of 20+ reps. each time it is getting tougher. But I am glad I started at the beginning and did not skip around to where I ‘thought’ I should start at. I feel as if I could do 50 straight, good-form push ups, but I haven’t attempted it because I want to keep to the program.
I can see the results in my upper body beginning to show. More definition, tighter arms, and everything heavy seems a lot lighter now. Muscle grows quickly when you stick to a daily routine, very quickly.
Why this program works: I can spot out two reasons why this program is sucessful; the first is the breaks between the levels. One the first day of each week you take 60-second breaks inbetween each level, then on the second day 90-second breaks, and the third 120-second breaks, giving you plenty of time to rest before the next set. Giving you enough time to rest is very important, not just because it will stop you form giving up, but because it allows you to get the oxygen you need into your muscles that you have been using, allowing you to perform good-form push ups; which in turn makes the workout much more effective. the second reason why this program is effective is because everyone is doing it, and it is all over the web. Popularity among peole involved with web 2.0 is pushing this program higher. with Tweets and Plurks about the program all the time, it’s getting a lot of free, effective, advertising.
I will continue to push my way thought the last 3 weeks of the program and will update you along the way.
