This past week the New York Times released the Mac version of their product TimeReader. It is a pretty nice little Microsoft Silverlight based app. that give you a newspaper feel. have been using it for the last week or so, and I can say I love the layout and how the app works, but it has a downfall. On start-up the memory usage goes straight to 80MB. When you begin to use it it jumps to 100+MB. This may not seem like a lot, but for the simple things this program has to do it is a lot. Basically it’s an RSS reader for the Times, but even my RSS reader that reads 20-25 feeds uses only a constant 75MB. When you add in the 150-200MB for Safari or Firefox it begins to add-up.
